Book Fair and Competition
At Aughton Christ Church we strongly encourage all the children to read and to develop an enthusiasm and passion for books. As part of our drive to encourage reading, we held our book fair in school and we would like to thank everyone who supported this event. A grand total of £1325.42 was raised which means that our school has earned £795.25 in rewards to spend on new books for our classrooms and library.
Alongside the book fair, we held a ‘design a peg person book character’ competition in school. Each child was given a wooden peg and asked to create a peg person based on their favourite book character. We were amazed by the quality and high standard of all the entries and these will soon be on display around school for everyone to see. Our winning entries were designed by:
Freddie - Reception
Jim - KS1
Macy - LKS2
Penny - UKS2.
We would like to thank all the children who took part in this competition and we are looking forward to seeing the entries for our extreme read competition, which takes place over half term. We also have lots more exciting reading events planned for after half term.
How far can you take your reading?
