Reception – Akello Flavia

 

 

  • Akello Flavia is 14, she takes care of her home every day along with her brother Opeiyo Jamale who is 16.
  • Both children live with their 107 year old Grandmother who cannot walk and cannot see well. Their father died in the war in 2005. Their mother moved away.
  • They live in a banda which is in desperate need of repair.
  • They cannot afford to go to school.
  • They farm the land and grow kasava (long potato). They sell whatever they can carry at the market which is 5km away.
  • They can make up to 10,000 shillings (£2.22)

 

Year One – Opeiyo Jamale

  • Opeiyo Jamale is 16, he takes care of his home every day along with his sister Akello Flavia who is 14.

  • Akanyo is a 7 year old girl who needs funding to enable her to go to school everyday.
  • She is in P1.
  • Akanyo lives at home with her  sister and 2 brothers. Her parents have died. Her grandmother looks after them now but she is sick. She lives 1 ½ km from Koch Goma.
  • Some of her duties are to wash the dishes and clothes.
  • Akanyo loves learning to read. She enjoys playing fossi.
  • Akanyo wants to be a doctor.

 

Year Three – Opeo Oscar

 

  • Opeo is a 8 year old boy who needs funding to enable him to go to school everyday.
  • He is in P1.
  • Opeo lives at home with his mum, dad and 4 sisters. One of his duties is to sweep the compost.
  • Opeo loves playing football.
  • Opeo wants to be a lawyer.

 

Year Four – Rebecca

 

  • Rebecca is a 10 year old girl who needs funding to enable her to go to school everyday.
  • She is in P3.
  • Rebecca lives at home with her mum, dad, 5 sisters, 4 brothers and her grandparents. She lives 2km from Koch Goma Primary School.
  • One of her duties is to sweep and clean the house.
  • Rebecca loves learning to read. She enjoys volleyball.
  • Rebecca wants to be a doctor.

 

Year Five – Ogenrwot Kumagun Fred

 

  • Ogenrwot is a 10 year old boy who needs funding to enable him to go to school every day.
  • He is in P3.
  • Ogernwot lives at home with his dad, 1 sister and 3 brothers. One of his duties is to sweep the compost.
  • Ogenrwot loves learning to write. He enjoys looking after his chickens. He likes to play football and fossi.
  • Ogenrwot wants to be a doctor.

 

Year Six – Onenchan Nakazire

 

  • Onenchan is a 11 year old boy who needs funding to enable him to go to school everyday.
  • He is in P3.
  • Onencan lives at home with his 2 sisters and 5 brothers. His parents have died. Some of his duties are to sweep the compost and rear 2 goats.
  • Onencan loves learning to write. He enjoys volleyball.
  • Onencan wants to be a policeman.
