Year 6 Science Lesson

In Year 6, we have been looking at the circulatory system and investigating the human heart in our Science lessons. This week we've been very hands-on and were lucky enough to investigate lamb hearts.

We discussed and implemented the important hygiene and safety aspects of what might go on in a real lab and then we got investigating! We made predictions before we saw the hearts and gave reasons using our scientific understanding. Then we were able to observe and hold the hearts, locating key features and make comparisons to the human heart. Once we had taken a closer look and written our findings down, Mr Swift carefully dissected one, revealing the chambers and inside the various vessels.

We really enjoyed our investigation and Mr Swift was delighted at how mature the children approached this task.
