Year 3 visit to Ribchester

Year 3 have had a wonderful day at Ribchester today.

When they arrived, they thought about why the Romans might have built a fort at Ribchester. The children went to the museum and were given the opportunity to handle lots of real roman artefacts as well as trying on Roman armour and carrying a full size shield. Patrick, the curator at Ribchester Roman museum, told them lots of fascinating facts about life in Roman Britain.

After lunch, Patrick showed Year 3 the remains of the Roman granaries and then they went into the museum and looked at the different artefacts on display. To finish their day, they paid a visit to the remains of the Roman bathhouse and pretended to be Roman Soldiers relaxing in the bath house after a hard day.

The children were complimented on their fantastic knowledge of Roman Britain.
