We Shall Never Surrender

On Thursday 28th November children from Year 6 had a busy day finding out what it would have been like to be evacuated in World War 2 as they were evacuated to church.

The children arrived at school dressed up as an Evacuee child. During the morning the children experienced how they would have felt leaving their parents and being told which family they would be going to live with and carrying identity cards and gas masks.

After lunch, Year 6 then made a visit to Hillcroft Nursing Home where the children were able to ask the residents questions about their own experiences during the war and sang an array of songs from that era.

Thoughout the morning the children made Victory Carrot Cookies as part of their Great British Bake Off - focused around the importance of the war effort.

Year 6 had a very informative day re-enacting what it would have been like to have been evacuated during World War Two.
