Midstream Garden Centre

On Friday 17th May, our Reception Class visited Midstream Garden Centre. The children were met by Steve the Manager. He told the children that there had been a problem with the animal ornaments from the shop, some had escaped! They were asked to help find the animals around the gardens. They hunted high and low and eventually found them all!

After solving the mystery, the children then went to the horticultural area and greenhouse where they met Dawn. Dawn talked to the children about growing vegetables, the children had the opportunity to plant peas, pumpkins, radish and swede. The children covered their seeds with vermiculite to stop birds and insects from eating them.

Reception returned to school with their planted seeds, excited to develop their gardening skills and observe the changes in their vegetables as they grow.
